t’s time once again for some maintenance and upgrades.
While we always strive to avoid downtime, we have been rounding up some to-do’s and will tick them all off at the same time.
This will however require some downtime, since we are basically rebuilding the server.
Recently there are glitches just about everywhere, caused by both software updates but most likely also outdated stuff.
Instead of spending countless hours trying to find workarounds, we have decided that it’s easier to just do it from scratch and eliminate all the issues at once.
So here is the plan:
- Manual backups on top of the automated daily snapshots, just to be sure.
- Server wipe to start fresh.
- New AlmaLinux 10 RAID installation, upgrading from the current v9.
- Fresh WHM cPanel deployment and configuration.
- Restoration of the manual site backups and dependencies.
- Testing and troubleshooting.
- Attachment of additional storage to clone the site and test upgrade it to the latest XenForo.
- Testing and troubleshooting.
- Upgrade of the primary “production” site to the latest XenForo.
- Final test and troubleshooting.
It’s hard to come up with an ETA, but I imagine at least 24-48 hours, due to unforeseen issues and time zone differences.
Stay tuned for the date and time where we begin.
